Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, mandatory for Muslims whose wealth exceeds the nisab (minimum threshold) for a full lunar year (haul). The nisab for zakat maal equals 85 grams of gold. If your total annual savings exceed this, you owe 2.5% as zakat. You can pay through BAZNAS, BAZDA, or certified LAZ institutions.

What is nisab?
Nisab is the minimum threshold of wealth that makes zakat obligatory. For zakat maal, nisab = 85 grams of gold. The value changes daily with the gold price â this is why the calculator asks for the current gold price per gram.
What is the haul requirement?
Haul means your wealth must have been above nisab for a complete lunar year (about 354 days). This calculator assumes your entered savings have been maintained for a full haul.
Where do I pay zakat in Indonesia?
Through BAZNAS (Badan Amil Zakat Nasional), local BAZDA offices, or certified LAZ institutions such as Rumah Zakat, LAZISMU, or Dompet Dhuafa.
What is the difference between zakat fitrah and zakat maal?
Zakat fitrah is a fixed food donation paid at the end of Ramadan (about Rp 45,000â55,000 per person). Zakat maal (this calculator) is 2.5% of total annual wealth/savings above nisab.
